Self Care. We hear about it and see it every where. It’s become quite a buzz word over the past several years.

But what exactly IS self care? It’s one of those things that can mean different things to different people. Ask 100 people what self care is and you’ll get 95-100 different answers. 

Here’s what self care is to me: taking care of my mental health, my physical health and my spiritual health. Mind, body and soul. 

How you go about self care can take on even more ways than there are definitions! There are no cookie cutters when it comes to self care. (Unless baking cookies is your jam.😁)  What works for your best friend might be terrible for your own self care! There are a million ways to PRACTICE self care…and I have blog posts that cover some of those. And many more to come!

Mental health has become a huge issue in today’s world. The more we’re connected through social media, the more isolated people seem to feel. Finding ways to improve your mental health is more important than ever. Don’t hesitate to seek professional help!

Physical health is also a priority when talking about self care. And our mental health goes hand in hand with our physical health. There is a balance between our minds and bodies that cannot be denied. Physical health isn’t just about exercising, skincare, massages…it’s also about annual physicals and screenings, it’s about getting proper nutrition.

Spiritual health is another big part of self care. Spirituality can be a bit of a hot button topic. So I’m going to leave it at this: be sure to tend to your spiritual health just as much as you tend to your mental and physical health.

I’ve been beta-testing a couple of new products from a company that will be launching soon. And let me just say: BLOWN AWAY is no exaggeration when it comes to the results I’m feeling! My husband and adult son are also beta-testers. It’s made a HUGE difference for ALL of us!

I can’t medical claims. And I believe that you have to try it and experience it for yourself. But let me give you list of what we have felt:

It seemed like a good idea to start this year off with a blog post that talks about what self care really is. I’ll be posting all year long with lots and lots of tips for practicing self care. And there are already a few here, so scroll on down for those!

Oh!! Before I go…One thing I’m passionate about with my self care is AFFIRMATIONS. I believe they are SO powerful in helping get our mindset right. I designed a cute (if I do say so myself) affirmation calendar and listed it in my Etsy store! It’s printed and shipped by a print-on-demand company. Super fun!
