I haven’t had the opportunity to travel in a really long time. So when my business coach organized a Retreat in Savannah GA, I knew I wanted to go. Traveling for self care is something I’d love to more of.
I just got back from that Retreat! Let me tell you: my cup is FULL!
Twenty-five of my “business partners” from our coaching group attended the Retreat. That was in quotes because we are all independent business owners. They are mostly creatives: artists, painters, jewelry makers, crafters, photographers, etc…and then me, the direct seller.😊 These are ladies that I’ve only known online. It was an absolute pleasure to meet them, hug them and get to know them on another level. They sparked a new found passion for my business and new ways of sharing it. I hope I sparked in them a curiosity to explore self care for themselves.
Can I just say: I’ve fallen in love with Savannah! It was sooo beautiful! I could sit by that river all day, every day. Maybe that’s just the drought-stricken Kansas girl in me. But I’ve always been drawn to rivers, streams, creeks…even more than oceans. I feel such peace and joy when sitting by moving water. Self care, for sure!
The people are endlessly friendly and helpful.
The FOOD y’all…🤤🤤🤤! So much food everywhere! We did Cooking School at 700 Drayton, the restaurant at The Mansion On Forsyth. I made collard greens! I’ve never even tasted collard greens before this trip. And they were delish!🙌 Red rice, shrimp and grits and baked chicken, along with the yummiest berry cobbler! So fun to collaborate with 25 other people to prepare a meal for all of us! Shout out Chef Jason for keeping us all in line! I’m not going to tell you how much weight I gained!🤣
I was blessed to be able to take my mom along on this trip. It was so wonderful to spend that time with her and take in the beauty of Savannah together. Time is short and I’m learning to embrace every moment and squeeze joy out of them all!
Savannah is a walking city. My mom and I stayed in an Airbnb very near Forsyth Park. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. I knew we’d be walking everywhere and wanted to be sure that I wore a pair of really comfy shoes! These were perfect!
They go with everything! I could have easily worn these shoes and not packed any others. I’m an over packer by nature, so I did have other shoes. But on walking days, these were my go tos!
I wanted to be comfortable for walking, sitting in meetings, and whatever else came up, but I also wanted to look nice. Fortunately, my Zyia obsession covered my a-umm…bases!😉 The Confluence Joggers are ridiculously comfortable! And they don’t look sloppy at all. You can dress them up or down, according to where you want to wear them. The Everywhere Pants are slightly dressier and just as comfortable. Super light weight and quick drying, perfect for those warm rainy days we had in Savannah. Of course, I’m a huge fan of the Light & Tights, as well as the Cardigans and Wander Shirts (short/long sleeved)! They all fold/roll up compactly and come out of your suitcase without wrinkles! My one pair of Zyia light n tights took me from yoga at the Retreat, to a Lunch & Learn, to exploring the streets of Savannah all in one day!

Did I mention that I’m an over packer?!🙄😁 I took this backpack as my carryon for the airplane. I had it double as my purse, so that I only had to worry about keeping track of one bag while bouncing around gates at the airports. It had TONS of room! I had my trusty clear quart sized bag with my liquids tucked in a front pocket for easy access. If you are traveling for a quick 3-4 day trip, this would easily be the only bag you need! It comes in a few other colors, but you know I got the pink!😉💕
Pro Tip: If you have difficulty sleeping when you travel (or even at home) these Sleep Patches are the real deal! No melatonin in the patches. But they will help your body produce the melatonin it needs to get good, restful sleep. I’m a good sleeper at home, but I use these on any overnight+ trips. These were especially helpful since I changed time zones, had weird travel hours and my schedule in general was messed up. I got good, solid sleep and did not wake up feeling groggy.👍
If you get a chance to visit Savannah, GO! You won’t regret it! I might suggest that January is a great month in regards to weather. I won’t vouch for summer! Something tells me hot and humid will be the name of the game then!🥵
I’m currently listening to Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil by John Berendt. I love hearing the history about places we visited and saw. It’s been a great way to relive my trip and hopefully solidify memories! It’s well written and the narration is great! I think it would be a great read even if you have never been to Savannah. I love reading and audiobooks! I love escaping into a good read!
I didn’t take enough pictures. Mostly silly selfies with my mom. But here are a few! Enjoy!
If you’ve ever been Savannah, let me know in the comments. And be sure to tell me your favorite thing about your trip!💕
